Jean-Baptiste Besnard
Enabling HPC software productivity with the TAU performance system

Jean-Baptiste Besnard began his career focusing on profiling and debugging at scale during his Ph.D. thesis. Subsequently, he shifted his focus to parallel runtimes, particularly MPI, and has actively followed the advancements of the MPI standard for the past decade.
His primary interest centers around the evolution of runtimes and their impact on parallel codes, aiming to strike a balance between performance and portability. Jean-Baptiste's work encompasses various aspects of MPI, including interconnects, higher-level MPI semantics, and optimizing runtimes for code performance.
Currently, Jean-Baptiste holds the position of technical leader at ParaTools. He has participated in several committees related to performance modelling and MPI. He is also currently involved in the ADMIRE EuroHPC project, focusing on the development of an always-on machine-wide profiling stack with a particular emphasis on I/O.
