Storing your data at PDC
PDC provides several types of storage for research data to meet the changing needs of researchers across the different stages of the research process.
Researchers who are using high-performance computing (HPC) to assist in their research need different types of storage for their data at different stages of the research process:
- somewhere to store files relating to calculations being performed on supercomputing systems (for example, program files for performing simulations or files of input data),
- backups that protect data against serious hardware errors and from being removed or corrupted by mistake, and
- long-term storage to archive large quantities of research data after the active research has been completed.
PDC offers storage solutions to meet these needs:
- file storage for computation , and
- mass data storage (backups and longer-term storage for large amounts of data).
