Diploma project for Master's student at PDC and KTH

Published Oct 21, 2016

A Master's diploma project (to start by January 2017 at the latest) is available in the Data-driven Computational Materials Design (DCMD) project established under the Swedish e-Science Research Centre (SeRC).

The diploma project will be managed jointly by PDC and Prof. Anna Delin at the School of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology. The main aim of the project will be to set up and deploy a technical infrastructure for managing large quantities of data computed on HPC resources. Specifically, databases of first principles electronic structure calculations of nanomagnetic systems will be generated and used to develop workflows for data-driven materials design.

Previous experience with Python, relational databases and SQL syntax is highly desirable, as is a basic understanding of electronic structure calculations.

Interested candidates are invited to send their applications (a short CV and one page motivational letter) to both Prof. Anna Delin at KTH (annadel@kth.se) and PDC application expert Thor Wikfeldt (kthw@kth.se).
