An introduction to parallel programming using Message Passing with MPI

Message Passing is a programming model suitable for a wide range of computer architectures from multi-core desk top equipment to the fastest supercomputers in the world. The concepts behind message passing and distributed memory computing will be introduced in this course and the syntax of the key MPI calls will be explained. This online course is at beginners level and is suitable for researchers with no experience in parallel computing. The course will be held online in the morning (from 9:00-12:30) over four days.

Time: Mon 2021-10-25 09.00 - Thu 2021-10-28 12.30

Location: Online

Language: English

Participating: SNIC trainers from HPC2N, LUNARC & PDC

Export to calendar

The course will also include point-to-point communications, non-blocking communication and the collective communications calls. Live demonstrations and practical sessions to deepen the understanding of the lectures will be part of the course. At the end of the course participants should be able to write their own MPI programs at an intermediate level.

Eligibility

SNIC users, prospective SNIC users and academic researchers throughout the Nordic region are all welcome to attend.
