PDC's supercomputer Beskow

Beskow is a Cray XC40 system, based on Intel Haswell processors and Cray Aries interconnect technology. At PDC, we have a total of 9 racks in two rows with a theoretical peak performance of nearly 2 petaflops. The system is named after the famous Swedish author and illustrator Elsa Beskow, who produced many delightful children's books.

Beskow is designed for running large parallel jobs, so time allocation applications for running wide jobs are preferred.

Beskow was ranked in 32nd position in the November 2014 Top 500 list.

The system went in full production and was available for SNIC allocations from January 2015. The intended lifetime of the machine is 4 years, i.e. until 2018-12-31.
