HPCE3: First Call for Applications is OPEN!

Lilit Axner, PDC

The HPC-Europa team is excited to announce that our Transnational Access research visit programme is back!

We are now accepting applications again, with a first closing date of Thursday 7th September 2017 (12:00PM CEST).

We plan to inform applicants of the results before the end of October, with some visits starting in the last weeks of 2017.

Future closing dates will be held every 3 months, and the HPC-Europa3 programme continues until April 2021.

To remind, through HPCE3 Transitional Access programme the successful applicants get the possibility:
  • to stay in one of the 9 HPCE3 partner countries for 3-13 weeks;
  • to join and to collaborate with one of the 9 HPCE3 partner country host-labs, which are mostly universities’ research groups specialized in various scientific disciplines;
  • to receive a full refund for their travel and accommodation expenses;
  • to receive a daily subsistence during their visit;
  • to receive access to the most powerful HPC and data facilities at  one of the 9 HPCE3 partner centers;
  • to receive support from experts qualified both in HPC and given scientific discipline (this means that HPC-Europa3 is suitable even for researchers with little or no experience in HPC!);
  • to participate in training courses given by one of the 9 HPCE3 partner centers;
  • to receive a personal day-to-day support from one of the 9 HPCE3 partner centers' HPC-Europa3 local team, which deals with all your logistical, administrative and financial matters before, during and after your visit.

Regional Access sub-programme: One of the new objectives of HPC-Europa3 project is the extension of the geographic coverage of the Transitional Access programme. In this context, HPC-Europa3 visitors from the Baltic and the South East European (including Western Balkans and Eastern Partnership) countries are also highly encouraged to apply.

There are three main differences between the Transitional Access programme and the Regional Access sub-programme:

  1. Only users from the Baltic and the South East European countries are allowed to apply to the Regional Access sub-programme.
  2. The HPC centres that will be hosting the Regional Access sub-programme visitors are KTH-PDC (Sweden) for the visitors from the Baltic countries and GRNET (Greece) for the visitors from the South East European countries.
  3. Only applicants from the Baltic and the South East European countries that have "no" or "little" experience in HPC will be allowed to apply for the Regional Access sub-programme via the same application form.

If you have questions about the HPC-Europa3 project or the application form, feel free to contact HPCE3 coordinator for PDC Dr. Lilit Axner.
