Cabling the Slingshot interconnect

Work on Friday the 5th of August focused on finishing the connections for the vitally important network of cables (known as the Slingshot interconnect) that enable the compute nodes to exchange data at ultra-high speeds.

You can see the electrical connections to the compute racks being completed and the system being powered up  yesterday.

Where did we leave things yesterday? Ah yes, rubbish outside the computer hall: no problem, great excuse for some morning exercise!
It's getting better fast...
...done, perfect!
Meanwhile, in the computer hall, the Slingshot cabling adventure continues... (Slingshot is the high-performance ethernet-based network that passes information between the parts of Dardel.)
...there's much more than meets the eye when one changes perspective!
Some components of Dardel seem to need some extra encouragement to work! So the reluctant blades are pulled out...
...opened...
...and thoroughly analysed by the experts. A great deal of care goes into this; each of these blades contains eight 64-core processors!
Slingshot cabling done - what a nice way to end this week!
