PhD position in Exascale Computing at PDC

Closing date for applications: 19 May 2019

Published Apr 12, 2019

PDC is calling for applications from students interested in undertaking a doctoral degree in Exascale Computing.

The position aims at research and development of extreme scale simulation codes for future exascale systems. Achieving efficient performance at exascale will require either unreasonable large problem sizes, or the development of new parallelisation approaches and algorithms which retain parallel scaling even for very few elements per core. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the development and implementation of novel parallelisation methods and algorithm, with a focus on spectral element methods to efficiently exploit characteristics of anticipated exascale systems, like increased parallelism, heterogeneity and deep memory hierarchies, using established and emerging parallel programming environments (such as MPI, OpenMP, OpenACC and PGAS). The implementations will be based on the NEK5000 code in collaboration with the KTH Mechanics Department.
