You are here: Home Resources Software Installed Software Requesting new software

Overview

If you can not find a software that you need on the list of installed software at PDC, or using the module avail command, you have two options:

  • Install the software yourself
  • Ask PDC support to help you with the installation

Install software yourself at PDC

Ferlin, Ekman, Povel and Zorn

These systems all have their software installed in AFS. This means that you can compile the code in your own home directory (which is located in AFS) on any of these systems.

Lindgren

On Lindgren AFS is not available on compute nodes. Instead you need to install in /cfs and make sure that you compile your program for the compute nodes (not the login node). You should build your programs statically. More information on how to compile on Lindgren.

Ask PDC to install software

If you can not install a software yourself, you are always happy to ask PDC support

to help you do so. We appreciate if you can help us by specifying these details when asking for an installation of a software:

  • What is the name of the software?
  • On which PDC system do you want to use it?
  • How can we download the software?
  • Does it require a license, and if so, do you have a license for the software?
  • How many people (and who) will be using the program at PDC?
  • By when do you need the software installed?
  • Have you got any test cases that we could check the installation with?

In short, the more information you can give us, the easier it will be to help you with the program!
